7-Point Social Movement

De-Addiction Campaign Guide

"Save from Addiction, Engage in Creation" — A nationwide initiative powered by Akhil Vishva Gayatri Pariwar.

What is Addiction?

Sanskrit texts define intoxicants as:
"Budhim Vilumpati Yat Dravyam Madakari Taduchyate."
This means any substance that destroys a person's intellect, judgment, and reasoning is an intoxicant (e.g., alcohol, cigarettes, tobacco, gutkha, opium, cannabis, cocaine, heroin, and synthetic drugs).

Consequences of Substance Abuse

Trillions of rupees are wasted annually on tobacco and alcohol.
Over 60% of road traffic accidents are linked to driving under the influence.
Smoking increases the risk of lung cancer by up to 20 times compared to non-smokers.
Tobacco use is the leading cause of death in 1 out of every 5 mortalities.
Alcohol abuse is linked directly to severe liver, brain, and digestive disorders.
Domestic violence, theft, and violent crimes are highly correlated with addiction.

Ways to Prevent Addiction

  • Learn to Say NO: Politely but firmly refuse any offer of drugs or alcohol.
  • Study the Risks: Research the physiological and mental breakdown caused by addiction.
  • Choose Friends Wisely: Avoid peer groups that encourage substance abuse.
  • Communicate: Share your stress, anxiety, or challenges openly with your family.
  • Healthy Alternatives: Relieve stress through sports, music, yoga, and reading.

Effective Techniques to Quit

Any addiction can be overcome with a strong resolution. Make an immediate decision to quit permanently and do not look back.

Sit comfortably in the morning. Inhale slowly and deeply. Visualize that your mind and body are receiving positive energy to quit. Exhale slowly, affirming that you are completely free from the addiction. (3 to 5 mins)

Close your right nostril with your thumb and inhale deeply through the left nostril. Then close your left nostril and exhale through the right one, visualizing toxins leaving your body. Repeat in reverse. (3 to 5 times)

Bhramari: Close your ears and eyes, and exhale making a humming bee sound.
Gayatri Mantra: Meditate on the rising sun and chant the Gayatri Mantra to strengthen your mental resolution and moral willpower.
Frequently Asked Questions

Important Q&A Related to De-addiction

General questions related to Vyasan Mukti Abhiyaan (De-addiction Campaign) and de-addiction, with their scientific and spiritual answers.

Vyasan Mukti Campaign is a nationwide public awareness movement run by Akhil Vishva Gayatri Pariwar (AWGP), Shantikunj Haridwar. Its objective is to free society from alcohol, tobacco, gutkha, drugs, and new-age digital addictions like gaming and online betting to build a healthy and morally strong society.

Gayatri Pariwar's method emphasizes physical treatment along with mental and spiritual rehabilitation. Through regular yoga, pranayama, Gayatri Mantra chanting, self-study (reading good books), and a Yajna environment, a person's willpower and wisdom are awakened, minimizing the chances of relapse.

The first step to quit addiction is to make a firm resolve. After that, set a specific date, tell your family and close friends about your decision so they can support you. In the early days, practice yoga-exercise to distract yourself, deep breathing, and seek medical consultation or help from a recognized de-addiction center if needed.

Yes, you can fill out the online pledge form by going to the 'Take Pledge' link in the main menu of our website. Additionally, you can download it and fill it offline, and inspire others to do so. Our goal is to make at least 10 people drug-free.
